Targeted Search & Risk Analysis

Freedom to Operate Search
Know Your Risk Before You Launch

An attorney-led patent risk review designed to identify whether existing patents may threaten your product or service. Before you invest. Before you launch. Before it is too late.

The question is not whether patents exist in your space. They almost certainly do. The question is whether any of them can be asserted against your specific product. That is what this review answers.

Scope of the Review

What the FTO Search Covers

A budget-level FTO review provides practical, attorney-led guidance focused on risk awareness without the cost of a formal written legal opinion. Four deliverables. One flat fee.

01
Attorney Review of Your Product

We begin with a focused review of a single company product or service, with particular attention to one to three defined mechanical features that are central to how the product works. The scope is carefully limited to the features most likely to carry patent risk.

02
Targeted Patent Search

We conduct a targeted patent search to identify issued patents and published applications that could potentially cover your defined product features. The emphasis is on patents that present realistic commercial risk, not an exhaustive catalog of all remotely related references.

03
Claim-Level Risk Analysis

For each patent identified as potentially relevant, we analyze all independent claims to assess whether they could read on your product as described. This focuses on whether key claim elements appear present or absent, and where meaningful differences exist.

04
Risk Summary and Attorney Walkthrough

You receive a verbal walkthrough and where appropriate a brief written summary explaining the level of risk for each patent reviewed. We highlight higher-risk patents, lower-risk patents, and areas where design or operational changes may reduce exposure.

Transparent Flat Fee Pricing

No Hourly Billing. No Surprises.

Choose Budget FTO When

Early Stage & Pre-Launch

Still in development or planning phase. Get a practical risk check before committing significant resources.
You want attorney guidance without the cost or formality of a full written legal opinion.
Your product has 1 to 3 core mechanical features to evaluate and the risk exposure is not yet material.
Exploring whether a more comprehensive analysis is justified before a larger commitment.

Choose Premium FTO When

Launch, Investment & High Exposure

About to launch a software or computer-implemented product. Claims in this space are broader and more complex to navigate.
Investors or acquirers are conducting IP due diligence. A formal review protects the deal and the valuation.
Entering a licensing negotiation or infringement dispute. Premium analysis provides the depth the situation demands.
The cost of infringement exposure is material to your business. The $2,000 difference is a fraction of what a single lawsuit costs to defend.
